Pin Me for Later:
Warm & Cozy Stuff
For me, winter is all about being cozy and warm.
Slippers. I have had this exact pair for 3 years. They are the best. At first, the price tag got me but after a few months, they speak for themselves and are well worth the price. I put them on our boot dryer to warm them up and keep them fresh. Great gift!
Socks. But not just any socks; warm nicely made socks. I have a bunch of wigwam socks in my dresser. Great for winter!
Muck Boots. This was my Christmas present last year and I they are amazing! They are comfortable, warm, and leak proof. I also have the shorter ones but since we live in the Mid-West the high boots just seem to be better for barn work. The Muckster (short boots) are great for warm weather and gardening. Also, VERY comfortable!
Sorel Boots. How classic are these boots? They are on my Christmas List this year. I have a pair of white ones that I have had since 8th grade. I may be overdue an update on my boots.
A classic plaid scarf. I love scarves and I love plaid. But I am picky with my scarves. They have to be practical and be able to fit under my coat and not be falling all over the place. Those blanket scarfs are just too bulky. I want to wear my scarf all day long. I like this one in Cordovan Plaid!
Milwaukee Heated Vest. My husband has had a Milwaukee Heated Jacket for 4 years and always raves about it. This year we both invested in some vests. I have to say that, for me, the battery pack on the side of my back is a little uncomfortable when I am driving. Like I said before, I am pretty picky with my clothing. But, if you are going to be outside, doing chores this is great under your coat and sure to keep you cozy during those cold days. It also has 3 heat settings to fit your needs.
Cuddle Duds. The fleece ones are super cozy and great for wearing around the house or to bed.
A Butter Bell. Our house is always cold in the winter. These Butter Bell’s keep your butter spreadable all the time. A very different concept from the butter dish. I am asking for one of these this year.
My new favorite tea! Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice Spicy Black Tea
Kits To Learn Something New
There is no better time than winter to learn something new.
Candle making kit.I received this candle making kit as a gift last year. It is wonderfully packaged and has seasonal scents. The instructions are easy to follow.
Winemaking kit. I received this winemaking 2 years ago. We are still using it and still making wine. It has a great instructional video that came along with it. This is a perfect kit for someone who is ready to try winemaking.
Soap making kit. I think this one looks really fun.
I also think that hand-lettering, knitting, crocheting, sewing, cross-stitch, painting, watercolor, and many other hobbies I didn’t mention would be great gifts.
A portable greenhouse: My brother in law bought this for me when we were just in the beginning of our homesteading life. I didn’t ask for it, I didn’t expect it, but I did use it… and love it! For those gardeners who can’t wait to get their hands in the soil and start to grow things before the snow is off the ground. Growing your own seeds is a money-saving venture.
If a greenhouse is not an option then this seed starting kit (with the addition of a heating pad) would be another great step. And don’t forget some seeds. Look for unique varieties and different colors.
Something To Pamper Her With
Lotion. In the winter, plain ‘oldlotion does not cut it. You need body butter! I like this stuff from Bath & Body Works or any other kind of good thick lotion. I also like VaniCream and plain old Vaseline. But if you can find a great thick lotion with a nice smell that’s even better.
Lipstick & Earrings. I started wearing lipstick this year. I am 34 years old and this is the first time in my life I have ever worn lipstick. I read about this lipstick that has a cult-like following. I was intrigued and had to try it out for myself. It supposedly looks good on every skin type. I was ready to try something new in my look.
I do feel like this has really made a difference in my appearance. As a stay-at-home mom and homesteader, I may have gotten into the habit of not taking the time to doll myself up. It is easy to do. It sure feels nice to put on some lipstick, some pretty earrings, and then all of a sudden I am dressed up for the day. Sometimes it is the little things in life that make the difference. I think you need to feel good about yourself and whatever that small thing is, that makes you feel put together, please take the time to do it.
Update: I love this lipstick! This tube lasted me 3 years and I am hoping Santa brings me a new tube this Christmas.
And never forget about Books. Here are a few I have enjoyed this year.
